The Basics:

• Tuesday, March 10, 2020
• No Classes on Campus for Students in grades 6-10 & 12 on this day.
• ONLY students taking the ACT (All 11th graders) will report to school.
• Students who are taking the ACT will be dismissed from school upon completion of the test and will not have assignments to complete for this day.

What is an Opportunity Day?

• Opportunity Day is a non-traditional day in which students receive their assignments prior to the scheduled day.
• These days give students an opportunity to participate in learning experiences away from school.
• It is recognized by the ALSDE as a regular day of instruction

What to Expect:

• Instruction linked to grade level standards
• Real-time learning linked to in-class learning
• A valuable day of instruction and learning that may include service projects or experiences that prepare students for life after high school
• Assignments for 精东影业 County students may include a combination of traditional and digital learning

Why have an Opportunity Day?

• It allows for students who are not participating in statewide testing to continue learning.
• It increases student engagement on a day that is challenging for instruction to take place.
• It allows teachers and administrators to design quality activities for a day beyond the school campus.

Benefits of Opportunity Day:

• It prepares students for taking ownership in their learning.
• It increases opportunities for students to explore options after high school, such as college visits, job shadowing, etc.
• It allows schools to design learning for their students and their specific needs.
• It prepares students for 21st Century learning.
