Dr. Cortney Slaughter is the principal of Bryant Park Elementary School. She served served as the Assistant Principal for Fultondale Elementary School from 2014 till 2018.  Most recently she served as principal of Hueytown Elementary School. She started her teaching career as a Physical Education Teacher at Concord Elementary School in 2007.

Dr. Slaughter has a long list of professional activities, honors and awards, which include : National Outstanding Assistant Principal Of The Year 2017, Member of Kappa Delta Phi International Honor Society in Education, 2018, Member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, 2018, Keynote Speaker at Athens State University We Teach Conference, 2017, Presenter at the CLAS Fall Conference, 2017, 2016, WIAT Channel 42 One Class at a Time $1,000 Grant Winner, Athens State University Alumni of the Year, 2016, 精东影业 County Second Mile Teacher, 2012-2013, ECO Credit Union Teacher of the Month, March 2012, ASAHPERED Presenter, October 2010, and Concord Elementary Teacher of the Year Nominee.
